I am Larissa, captain of our university cheer squad, and we are so good our own team stopped playing to watch us. By day I cook at the noodle bar across the water from Joris, my rival in broth, who captains that team in the stands. On summer evenings I climb to Kalina's rooftop garden to watch one tomato do nothing at all. I want our team back on the pitch, one perfect broth and the last word.
